There are many comparisons between retro and recent games. The retro games were very simple to play but yet still very addictive. The objective of the games were allways easy to achieve but got more challenging as the game progresses, whereas on recent games; the gameplay is more advanced so there can be different ways to complete the objective, and other things to do on the way. Most of the retro games had the same perspective, being birds-eye view. Now almost all games are 3D and use many different perspectives, with alot more advanced graphics using polygons instead of sprites. You can see the comparison between the games by looking at a game made in the 90s and the game sequals. such as mario went from being a pixilated 2D platform game to a 3D platform game, but the objectives are basically the same, just with better graphics to keep up with the times. There are barely any games now that will use sprites instead of polygons, but it is amazing how games have changed so much in a few years, so you can just imagine how different the games could be in years to come.
An example of a game title that had advanced over the years between retro and recent games would be the grand theft auto series. The retro versions of the game which were out many years ago had very basic graphics and the perspective of the game was birds-eye view. This changed over time with the advance in game mechanics so they could create 3D versions of it which held many more possibilities of gameplay.
